There is a new wave in Town: The Google Wave. It’s brought to us primarily from the Australian brothers that brought us Google Maps and the Google team. They have decided to make the Wave open source; so developers can create applications to run on the wave and deploy them as they deploy the web application.
A little bit about Wave.
Did I say little? Wave is A LOT!!! In it, we have email, blogging, Google-style twitting, interactive robots and other cool stuff. One of my favorite is the real time effect in the Wave. Just as a wave is considered dynamic and can change due to reactions to external and internal stimuli, the Google Wave emulates this effect seamlessly by having waves update in real time. It is like a superhero application. You may not understand the amount of power this application has so I will do a little break down of the properties I understand. At this moment, as I am blogging this, I am in the middle of the demo video. Well, not technically “the middle”; for my intricate readers, I am approximately 73.935% through with the demo video (find this video at http://tinyurl.com/nal2az).
First off, the concept behind the Wave was to create an futuristic emailing application. This turned out to have more functionality than futuristic can handle. You can send messages to people, dynamically add people to the conversation, reply to posts, reply to parts of a post (different paragraphs individually), use forms, dynamically create a document. Now you see the word “dynamically” appearing twice in the previous sentence. This is because it is as dynamic as a wave gets
— Real Time! The real time aspect of the wave baffles me the most. In the demo — which is called the Google Wave Developer Preview — Lars uses the wave to send a message to Jennifer when she is offline. When she logs in, the wave is highlighted in bold to indicate a “disturbance in the force”. Jennifer replies to the wave as a normal email client will reply to the wave and also replies to a part of Lars’ message. Lars then replies to her message while she’s online and before my eyes, I saw technology unveil. The joy it brought with it was like that of an muslim man seeing the beauty in his wife's face for the first time and being rest-assured he made the right choice. The wave updated in real time as Lars typed; character-by-character.
In the same vein, there is a search function that shows different blogs that match the content in the search bar. This also updates dynamically; in less than a second. If you are in Tokyo and you update a wave to include a word which someone in Port Harcourt is searching for, it shows up in his search results. If you hit the Backspace key before he clicks on your wave, it goes off the search results.
With the invention of the World Wide Web (WWW), the paradigm of the world being reduced to a global village kicked in. But now, I claim this application reduces the world to a global apartment.
Google Wave is currently being developed and will be deployed later this year. You can develop applications for it. Check out http://code.google.com/apis/wave/ to do so.

The Moonwalker now walks on the Moon
Michael Jackson. The biggest legend that ever lived. I am forced to say he was a force behind every genre of music that ever existed (maybe apart from them Metal and Screamo junkies). A true icon in the music industry. He died on the 25th of June '09. He will be deeply missed.
Lots of controversies surround his death though. The word out there is that his death was caused by cardiac arrest. Other rumors say that it was the effect of excess pain-killers. Recently, a new word hit the streets saying the doctor in charge was responsible. I'm not pinning this down to any assumption still; I wait for the results of his autopsy to emerge.
According to word moving around, he was taken to a hospital and no hospital official was allowed into the room that he was except for the doctor in charge. The room was guarded off by serious policemen. The outskirts of the building had people gathering around at the speed which the information spread. This is what I call popularity even in death.
Most people say those who are near death usually know that they are going or they are given some hint that their time is up. In Michael Jackson's case, the announcement for his concert in London was quite short. He only emphasized three words "This is it...when I say this is it, it really means this is it". And with an assuring smile, he says "I love you. I really do. You have to know that. I love you so much", puts his hands on his chest and says, "Really...from the bottom of my heart". What could he have meant by that? Did he actually know his time was up and wanted to give the world a piece of the Michael Jackson they know? Just a taste to engrave his memories into our minds. It's tempting to say he did; but miscalculated the timing.
Michael Jackson was the first true showman and will be the only showman at his level. No music artist of this day and age can emulate his swagger; talk less of exceeding it.
From heart to soul, we will always miss you. You will always be in the hearts of everyone.

The Alphabets
According to a TEDTalk, a recent mania for English is driving the world nuts. Jay Walker reveals this in a TEDTalk that can be found here. This led me to a deeper search of the cause - English. Probing English took me back to it's basics - The Alphabets.

Jay Walker shows how Chinese Kids practice English vigorously. This stunned me to the bone. Mandarin has over 3000 characters. 3000 as in three thousand. They leave that in search of an language that struggles with 26. 26 as in twenty-six. Jay Walker claims the reason is opportunity. I can relate. With English, the amount of opportunity is unfathomable now that technology is rising steeply and the US & other english speaing countries being the anchor.
But I want to take a different look on this. As i said before, probing English took me back to it's basics &emdash The Alphabets. I started thining about the alphabets and what they might mean. What does 'A' mean? What does 'B' mean? And so on. What is the hidden truth that lies behind this characters to make them this influential? This brought me to their applications.
The alphabets have become so dynamic so that they in themselves represent words; words that vary depending on the concept while the alphabet remains constant. One popular example is their application in Chatting and Texting. Let me show you some:
These exclude slangs or combinations. I have a hypothesis that with meticulous correlation, we could use a combination of 5 alphabets minimum to simulate the whole english dictionary. If you do not think this is true, click here to see some of the 2-letter combinations I use in Texting and Chatting.
There are 676 combinations of two letters. These are some of them (about 160) that apply to me which are closest to English. Some of you may have others that you use for other words in English. You may even have slangs that some two-letter combinations may simulate.
Talking about 3-letter strings, there are about 15600 combinations. Assuming a linear relation between the total number of combinations and the number of combinations that are actually used, and using the 2-letter combination as our only analysis, about 3692 3-letter combinations will mean something in English. By time we get to 5-letter combinations, we are looking at 7893600 distinct combinations. Assuming a linear relationship again as done for 3-letter combinations, about 1868307 words can be represented. This my friends is already larger than twice the english dictionary.
In conclusion, the alphabets alone introduce opportunity. They are the most basic form of language. Every other language or dialect depends on the English alphabets and their various accents (ie è, ü, ñ, á and lots more) to be written. The Elglish Alphabets themselves have the ability to be words, create words therefore creating a language and representing other languages. This is the reason. This is why English became such a force; because it is the most basic language derived from the gods of Language - The Alphabets.
